Apologize for typing in English but my Thai typing skills is like 4 letters per minute but anyway lets get into topic.
Before I begin, let me give you a brief idea on the situation at hand on the day. First I'm a beginner, never went round the circuit in Pira. Secondly the clutch was slipping pretty bad, never had the chance to look into it yet. Luck was not on my side it was pouring with rain and the track was very wet. Last but not least of the 10 cars that competed, mine was the only standard factory sedan well ok I had an engine transplant but that was all. The other cars were Audi Quattra, Porsche, and track tuned/modified cars. So you get a brief idea what I was up against.
Anyway, I remember using like only 3 gears and my top speed was about 80. I wanted to go faster but my experience wouldn't let me. I mean its like a different world. I'm confident on the road, I do turns with high speed and stuff but on the track its totally different. To have the best time you need to know when to go into a turn and aim for the right spot on the apex in order to get in fast and get out fast. With the E28 since its big and heavy, I was always having problems at turns.
Frankly speaking I’m satisfied with the M20 engine, its not powerful and can’t compete with other track cars, but it felt just right. There was one thing which I was unhappy with and that’s the brake system. Probably because its not well maintained by me, but the brake system seems to be the only weak point (bear in mind I already have rear discs too). An upgrade to the E34 front disc system will be a sensible route to me.
As for the suspension, the car may handle a lot better in track with lowering springs and sports shocks but as you know Thailand’s road is quite bumpy and this car is meant for daily use so comfort is I something I can’t give up.
Overall it was fun, exciting, you get to push your car to the limit and get to know it better. Would be great if we can have a run with just daily use standard cars from the factory, kind of like the one make race thing.
Well I got to go for know will continue later, see ya.
